Assessment Payments

To the residents of Point Aquarius:

Many of us are wondering why our checks to pay annual assessments have not cleared the bank. The following email was sent to the board Wednesday Jan 23, 2008. We'll see what they have to say if they respond at all. Keep checking here for their answer:

Brenda,

Amazingly, my check has still not cleared my bank as of this morning. It has been in the possession of the Point Aquarius POA for more than 3 weeks.

Would you or any of our esteemed board members please explain how this delay could be logically construed as an advantage to our community. We have lost the money we would have earned on this large annual deposit at the start of each year. Even with low interest rates, something is better than nothing.

Perhaps even worse are the many inquiries that must be handled from people wondering about the status of their checks. Isn't this creating work that easily could have been avoided? Community volunteers (myself included) could have been recruited if the work load was too great.

This whole thing smells like financial mismanagement to me. I await your reply so I can post it after I re-activate the Point Aquarius blog at http://pointaquariusblog.blogspot.com/ .

Your cooperation in announcing that the "blog is back" at the next POA meeting will be appreciated.

New Lawsuit

Apparently, things have not been as peaceful in our community as I had thought. There is some kind of lawsuit going on allegedly against certain board members. Details are few, but I hear it has to do with the payment of legal fees from the Becky Buckner case. Specifically who is suing whom and what the plaintiff’s expect to gain is not known.

With an election for two board seats coming up this month, the community should be aware of legal actions like this to help all of us properly evaluate the candidates. Any of the three who are running should clarify for the community if they are indirectly a party to the suit by way of contributions or anything else. Somebody out there knows the details and each resident deserves to know the facts of the case before the vote. Let’s hear from you in the comments section. It is your civic duty.

More Insults Shouted by Al Morin

At about 3:00 p.m. Friday June 30, 2006, I was again verbally assaulted by Al Morin. This time I called a pathetic a__hole along with some other unintelligible babble. The only difference between these insults and ones on June 10th was his wife was not cackling in the background. As usual, I didn’t say a word. When is this guy going to grow up?

Message for the Community

On Monday June 19th, the Board of Directors held an organizational meeting to elect officers for the next fiscal year. Before this meeting began, George Saltsman submitted his resignation. The remaining Board members voted to accept it. Director’s Al Morin and Roland Morgan did not attend the meetings and did not provide proxies.

All officers were unanimously elected as follows:

President: Becky Buckner
Vice President: Robert Nunley
Treasurer: Marvin Knoll
Secretary: Joan O’Hara

There is an air of excitement and camaraderie as the new officers and Board members are off and running, busily organizing new committees and establishing the framework for an improved Point Aquarius. There is much to be done, and all efforts will be communicated to residents on a regular basis using this blog and direct mail to reach those who are not online. To helping in ensuring a clear exchange of information with everyone, please leave constructive comments on the blog with suggestions as to how to make things better. This community belongs to those who live here, and your opinions are welcome.

Yes, the roads are the #1 project, and work is underway to get things moving under the capable guidance of Dee Dee Dobbs, Chair of the Roads Committee. More information about the new direction for our community will be made available at the next board meeting on Wednesday, July 5th at 6:30 P.M. at the Willis Community Center, 109 W. Mink Street. Everyone is encouraged to attend and meet the new leadership if you haven’t already done so.

I challenge Al Morin to a Debate

Mr. Morin:

After you insulted me by calling me a coward on June 10th in front of my house guest, I have thought about what would be a fair way to air our differing views about how to govern our community. You obviously think I should attend your monthly circus meetings and I just don’t see any value in doing so. Your rules of behavior are not conducive to an open discussion of any issue. Screaming and hollering at me during a meeting where you won’t let me talk, is not anyone’s idea of fair play. As you should know if you read any of my written articles about Point Aquarius, I always favor fairness.

I challenge you to a debate of community issues.

The playing field can be made level by holding this event at a place where there is a microphone so everyone in attendance can hear what is said. It can be set up similar to a political debate. Each of us will have 2 or 3 minutes to answer the question, followed by a rebuttal of 1 minute. No cackling from your wife will be allowed as occurred last Saturday. No hissing or booing from the Garden Club either. Since I don’t have any rude followers, there will be no disruption from my side. We can just let the audience listen to the answers to the questions asked without a sideshow. Seems fair to me!

By way of a copy of this email, I have invited Nancy Flake of the Conroe Courier to act as mediator. She has written fair and unbiased articles about the recent court actions. We can each submit at list of questions to her, but they must be related to the community and be of interest to the residents. If you have a checkered past, I am not interested in knowing about any of that. She can select the questions and ask some of her own too. Once finished, we can entertain questions from the audience.

According to the Point Aquarius web site you have been POA President, Vice President and now Vice President again. This should make you the most knowledgeable person in our community concerning POA matters. Whether this constant repetition as an officer is good for the community is likely to be a question on the list. To me, it seems best to rotate officers annually, so one person’s stagnant ideas don’t get stuck in place too long. I can hardly wait to hear your answer to this question.

My proposal is that we split any cost evenly. That means you pay half and I pay half. It shouldn’t be much and it may well turn out to be totally free. If the rules are followed, this will be a fair event. The residents will get some answers to questions that are long overdue, provided you choose to provide all the facts and not cover anything up. I encourage you to be truthful. You have my pledge that I will be.

An even better but probably not doable method to clear the air would be to testify under oath in front of Judge K Michael Mayes. I am certainly willing, but Judge Mayes likely has more pressing matters to work on than intervention in POA governance. I will try to reach him once you agree to testify. Please respond yes or no by Friday June 18, 2006.

This message will be posted to inform all residents. The blog is as follows in case you haven’t looked at it:

Those interested are encouraged to post prospective questions in the comments section. The residents don’t want to see the libelous junk being posted. Let’s try to be professional about this.

This is Alarming...Read This!

It seems like the residents of Point Aquarius hear of some new atrocity by the inner circle of the board every day. This one is over the top!

I enjoyed reading your last blog calling you a coward. I noticed that when I stopped to talk to you Saturday the Morons were out in the yard. I thought the dagger looks were for me since I have become a thorn in the side of the inner circle for months. Al has the nerve to call you a coward for hiding behind your computer. A year ago I ran for Section 3 director and Mr. Morin had the nerve to leave a threatening message on my recorder, part of which he told me he would do everything in his power to keep me off the board because he didn't want people like me and Marvin on the board. I played this recording for all the board members and most not all said that that was Al's opinion. I later found out that prior to the election the inner group and some of the Garden Club members were spreading false information about me. I was a board member until I couldn't take Al's and the inner circle lies. I was the Chairperson for the Deed Restriction Committee and Al told me to spend most of my time looking for violations in Section One because that's were the "RIFF-RAFF" live and he wanted them out of the subdivision. The monthly meetings are a joke, before we could talk at the beginning of the meeting but not now. I have ask for alot of different information that residents are allowed to see and received the same treatment - no information available. I have also brought to the boards attention that Joan O'Hara was and still is in violation of the deed restrictions and bylaws having a business ran out of residence. This would have made her ineligible to run for the board and I then ask that she be removed for cause. I provided them with County DBA records, information from the post office that showed the business received mail at her address and informed them the the emergency call number for the subdivisions security system is listed her home number.
The response I got was the they knew this but I need to provide them with more information. Another words Don't Bother to come back. Once again thanks for the great website. You have my permission to post all or part of this email including my name on the blog page. Residence need to stand-up be recognized and speak their concerns.

Thanks Again,
Bob Hordesky

I GOT YELLED AT BY AL MORIN

While trying to mow my yard on Saturday morning (Jun 10th), Al Morin yelled at me, “Why don’t you stop being such a coward and attend the board meetings.” He also said something about “hiding behind my computer”, but I couldn’t understand all of what he said. This display of emotion was choreographed with his wife loudly cackling in the background. I wonder who she was cackling at, me or her husband. I didn't say a word.

Well residents of Point Aquarius, I guess a bunch of us are all cowards according to Al Morin’s definition…none of us attend the POA board meetings. Why should we go? The leadership doesn’t tell us anything because of their penchant for secrecy. We have no rights to speak up when we feel an injustice is occurring. Past attendees tell me the Garden Club boos and hisses when a board member outside of the inner circle attempts to speak. That kind of behavior is just as unprofessional as shouting across the driveway calling me a “coward”.

There are also other libelous comments being posted to the blog by someone. An investigation is under way and those responsible had better be ready for a battle. I would suggest that the writer(s) post a retraction and apology quickly. Any body who knows who did it may become involved too.

As for Al Morin’s remark about “hiding behind my computer”, I say there is no place to hide. In every article I have written, I have encouraged feedback. He never provides any rebuttal of facts presented. Months ago he said I have a big mouth and now he called me a coward. Do you think he likes me? When is he going to explain or clarify the issues I am writing about? The facts I quote come from police reports or the text of their own clubhouse resolution for example. I am not making this stuff up. When are the residents going to get straightforward honest answers instead of secrecy and cover-ups?

I got a very well written email from a resident this morning. She said “It's better to find solution rather than blame.” In most cases I would agree with her, but in this instance I am convinced the only true solution is to completely replace the inner circle on the board. I have seen no sign that a compromise will work.

They wrote the clubhouse resolution to exclude residential input for a reason. Al Morin told me he did not want to update a 5 year old survey to allow new members an opportunity to speak up for what they wanted in the community. These people want to make all the decisions. I do not see them relinquishing their stranglehold and restoring our rights as residents. Any talk that they will is only hot air escaping. They just don’t understand, IT IS NOT THEIR MONEY.

I look forward to the day when more positive communication can be put on this blog. If we get control of our community back, we probably won’t need a blog to tell residents what’s going on. A good board will do that as part of their normal business.
